Campbell Surname and DNA

Robert Estes in her blog, DNA Explained, recently took on the old historical story of the Campbells of Scotland. Many history books say the old Medieveal name of Campbell was Fairfield  and when the family fell out of favor with the English crown, some of the family members fled to Italy where they became known as Campo Bello and others to France where they took on the name Beau Champ or Beacham.

So, if the history books were right there should be some matching going on with the Campbell, Capo Bello, Beachamp and Baecham surnames. So, go read Estes’ take on the history of the surnames and what she found using DNA. You can read her blog at http://dna-explained.com/2014/05/18/stories-about-surname-origins/.
